The Town of Edinburg collects household refuse at roadside each week. The North Shore Road side of the lake is collected on Monday and the South Shore Road side on Tuesday. Refuse must be in a can no larger than 33 gallons or bagged and placed in a wire mesh bin. Garbage may not be placed in loose bags at roadside. Please place in Clear bags. Garbage that contains mandatory recyclables will not be collected. Cans must be placed at roadside no earlier than 5pm the day before collection and removed by noon the day after the collection. In the event of a Monday Holiday or severe weather, collection is moved ahead to Tuesday and Wednesday. Holiday schedules are published in the Edinburg Newsletter and on Cable Channel 71. In 2008 collection days will be changed for holidays in the following weeks. Refuse will be collected on Tuesday and Wednesday in these weeks unless noted otherwise.

There will be no recyclable collection on Thursday, November 27th and Thursday Dec. 25th and Thursday Jan. 1st 2009.
The Town of Edinburg collects recyclables at roadside on Thursdays. Mandatory recyclables are: clean and dry newspapers, clean tin cans (helpful to flatten), clean glass with lids removed, plastic bottles with necks (that can be poured from). In addition the town will collect: clean and dry corrugated cardboard, office paper and batteries. Cardboard must be flattened. Recyclables must be placed loose in a blue plastic recycling container no larger than 24" by 18"and not more than 15" deep and it should have drainage in the bottom. Please DO NOT put items in plastic bags. All items must be clean and dry.

Transfer, Recycling and Reuse Facility
The Town of Edinburg Transfer, Reuse and Recycling Center is located just beyond the Town Hall on Military Road. The center is open on Saturdays from 9:00am-3:00pm and Fridays from 9:00am-3:00pm from May through October. The center accepts household refuse, recyclables, certain reusable items that do not contain fabric (please check with John Olmstead about specific items). The center takes refuse and recycling and also accepts car and household batteries, cardboard, tires that are not on rims ($5.00 each and $10.00 each for large truck tires), leaves for composting, yard debris, clean, untreated and unpainted wood up to 4" in diameter, metal and white goods, magazines, office paper, deposit bottles and cans (donated to scouts).
The reuse center accepts items in good
condition for reuse. Examples include: appliances, furniture & house
wares. Items not accepted include: upholstered furniture, clothing,
toilets & sinks.
Use of the center requires a resident sticker on the vehicle being used. Permits for resident use of the landfill/recycling facility shall be renewed for one year on June 15th for $5.00 per vehicle. The permit is for resident owned vehicles and is NOT TRANSFERABLE to any other vehicle. The sticker will be placed upon the vehicle by a town employee on either the front bumper (drivers side) or the rear window (drivers side). Permits that are damaged or lost will be replaced at no fee on the same vehicle.
